Reframing the visceral system within the context of whole-body function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Visceral I is the first of a three-part series exploring how the visceral system connects to whole-body function, and how osteopathy addresses it. The course carefully examines an embryological perspective \u2014 particularly how the peritoneal sac develops in relation to the digestive tract and the organs of the pelvis \u2014 and connects this understanding to physical examination and differential diagnosis. Rather than treating the viscera as fixed structures, the course approaches them as continuously changing: a study of living anatomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is an intensive course taught by a faculty member visiting from the United States. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria below are welcome to attend from outside TSO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This course is the first installment in a series exploring how the visceral system connects to whole-body function, and how osteopathy addresses it. Students examine an embryological perspective \u2014 particularly how the peritoneal sac develops in relation to the digestive tract and pelvic organs \u2014 and connect this understanding to physical examination and differential diagnosis. Rather than treating the viscera as fixed structures, the course frames them as living anatomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coursework that may help deepen understanding beforehand includes Anatomy One, BioBasics, Phase\/Step I, and the foundational cranial course. (These are suggested references, not required prerequisites.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eligibility for External Applicants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Tokyo School of Osteopathy (TSO) welcomes external applicants who meet one of the following eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Physicians, dentists, or osteopaths meeting WHO standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Graduates of one of TSO’s six partner institutions (JTOC, Still Academy Japan, Atlas College of Osteopathy, JCO, IOCJ, ASSOSG)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Applicants who do not meet the above but can demonstrate a total of 4,200 hours of coursework and 1,000 hours of clinical training may be considered on a case-by-case basis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Please note: completing this seminar does not result in a diploma or certificate of completion from TSO.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elizabeth Caron, D.O.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Elizabeth Caron has spent more than a decade as a member of the Biodynamic Faculty founded by Dr. James Jealous, working under his direct mentorship for 25 years and collaborating on the development of biodynamic curricula and writings. Her teaching experience spans universities and colleges of osteopathic medicine, and she has been involved in launching a hospital’s osteopathic medicine department as well as establishing a private clinic. She is board-certified in three specialties \u2014 Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine\/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Pain Medicine, and Alternative Medicine \u2014 and brings more than 20 years of clinical experience. She currently practices at Osteopathic Healthcare in Talent, Oregon, with a particular focus on prenatal and pediatric osteopathic care.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
